One for the Doctor @ Peoples' Picturehouse

“When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro” the good doctor of Gonzo journalism, Hunter S. Thompson, famously said. To mark the anniversary of his passing, and to celebrate both his famously & fabulously weird life and writings, the Peoples’ Picturehouse is turning pro by putting on a double bill in his honour. Arguably the best HST documentary is also possibly the least well known: Fear and Loathing in Gonzovision, a 1979 BBC production starring Hunter and his artist co-conspirator, Ralph Steadman. This will cue up that classic of ‘bad-craziness’, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The films are free and the bar will be serving special ‘bat-country cocktails’ and Wild Turkey over ice - so when the clock strikes midnight we can raise a glass to the doctor in style...
