Stik presents the Other Side...

Another day, another day and everything about that same journey is exactly the same. Only, look, someone has gone to the trouble of painting a beautiful mural on the side of the Bank. It’s like a snow has fallen and something sublime is now covering the once mundane. No money has changed hands; they did this specially for the smile on your face. Due to the illicit nature of this exchange, however, it’s not often you’ll catch the artist in action. Interpretation is all that’s left; questions of craft remain. Perhaps when we’re in our dotage we’ll be rocking back and forth in front of ‘Graffiti Tag Challenge’, in which ageing aerosol artistes take turns to tag a different urban landscape each week and discuss materials and form. Until then our best chance to taste the techniques involved, comes in this modern day master-class from Stik. Protective masks are available on the door so you can‘t help but ‘mmm’ along in quiet contemplation, just as you would in the National, as the still furtive artists glance up, not quite believing that they’re not about to get nicked…
